Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Episode 10 begins with Jang-uk and Bu-yeon hanging out. But it feels like this is the quiet before the storm, so the two decide to enjoy their time together. Of course, they don’t know that Jin-mu has a brand-new body that he’s about to try out.
After that, they go see Master Lee, who says he wants them to… get married! He is there as a witness and tells Jang-uk everything about her, including her past lives as Mu-deok and Naksu. But Bu-yeon wants to get married under her real name, Cho-Yeong. Master Lee calls them “Light and Shadow,” which is a nice way of referencing the name of this second season.
Jang-uk talks to Lee alone and tells him that most of Naksu’s memories have returned, but not all of them. But the jade stone calls to Uk, so he goes out and finds Naksu behind a wall. As he steps into it, he sees images of the firebird, and a young Bu-yeon says that this firebird is destined to escape and dry up, destroying this world in the end. Jang-uk is the only one who can stop this from happening.
What Happens to Park-jin and Jin-mu?
Park-jin is very angry and resentful about this, and his hand is shaking as he holds Kim’s ring. Jin-mu says there’s a chance he can save her, so he has to follow their rules. He is led to the Unanimous Assembly, which figures out that they want to share power between all the Kingdoms, no matter what that means for the world as a whole. Park-jin stays true to himself and doesn’t give in to what they want.
Park-jin starts to fight against the different mages until Jin-mu uses his magic to open the firebird egg. Park-jin tries to keep them all away while using the energy to keep it in check… But in the process, he loses track of Jin-mu, who shows up and stabs him in the heart.
Even though Park-jin has been knocked out, he is not yet dead. When the Assembly and Jin-mu leave, Park-jin puts the ring on his little finger before he loses consciousness and dies.
When Jang-uk goes back to the palace, he is shocked to learn that Park-jin, Kim, and Ho-gyeong have been killed. This explains why we saw three coffins at the end of the last episode. After he’s done crying, Yul tells him about the firebird and how Jinyowon fell apart. This brings him up to date on everything that’s happened. Since Park-body jin’s burned up and the other two are stuck under all that rubble, the coffins are also empty.
Is Jin-mu Going to Take the Firebird?
The Unanimous Assembly is meeting at the same time, while Jin-appetite, mu’s which has just turned, makes him greedy and act hastily. In fact, as soon as he killed one of the maids, he decided to break into Jinyowon and kill the firebird. On his way, he meets the Crown Prince, who is shocked to find out that Jin-mu has changed bodies. Unfortunately, the King is on Jin-side mu’s and decides to take the Prince’s gold plaque, which means he is no longer the heir to the throne.
Jin-mu shows up right away, grabs Ho-gyeong by the throat, and tries to kill her. Cho-yeon has to open it to protect her mother, so she has no choice. Jin-mu goes in and gets the egg from the firebird.
If this isn’t kept inside Jinyowon, it starts to fall apart. Before Jin0-mu leaves, he says some hurtful things about Ho-gyeong. When he leaves, she tells Cho-yeon to find help to bring back the firebird no matter what. She knows that without it, everything could fall apart.
In her absence, Kim shows up and finds out that Jinyowon is full of terrible things. She helps Hi-gyeong get inside, but when Park-jin finds out that his girlfriend is with Hi-gyeong, he runs to help. But the relics are getting away, swirling around like black wraiths and yelling at him in a strange way. Park-jin knows he needs to close the portal, but it breaks his heart to know that his wife is inside. Park-jin shuts the portal and locks Kim and Ho-gyeong inside with tears in his eyes.
Is It True That Ho-gyeong, Kim, and Park-jin Are Dead?
Now that they have the firebird, Jang-uk tells them the shocking truth. The three people haven’t died after all! In fact, Uk has tipped the scales back in their favor.
In the next scene, we see Ho-gyeong, who is fine except for some cuts and bruises. It turns out that Bu-yeon made a door so that she could go from Danhyanggok to Jinyowon. She stopped Jinyowon from falling down and saved the two women.
Lee, on the other hand, did what she told him to do and went to Cheonbugwan, where he found Park-jin but not the firebird. He was able to save Park-jin and stop him from dying from his wounds.
That night, Jang-uk shows up to see Bu-yeon and tells her that their love has gone against all odds because they fell in love even though they were never meant to. “I love you.” Before she falls into Uk’s arms, Bu-yeon says.
Does the Crown Prince Fulfill His Destiny?
Uk shows up with the gold plaque for the Prince and gives it to him. This lets the Prince get back to where he was always meant to be. U.K. gives him to power after realizing that he has already reached the highest point with the person he wanted to be with.
Jin-mu keeps acting like a snake by talking in the King’s ear and getting the Unanimous Assembly together as they get ready to open the egg and wake up the firebird. Jang-uk, on the other hand, is ready and has his own plans to stop the bird. As day turns to night, the Prince shows up with the Gold Plaque and tells the King that the man born under the King’s Star will stop Cheonbugwan and the terrible things Jin-mu plans to do to everyone.
Ending of Alchemy of Souls Season 2
Then we skip forward one year. Kim tells Park-jin she is pregnant while she is taking care of Cho-yeon and Dang-two gu’s lovely children. Cho-yeon and Dang-gu are making good progress. Yul is now in charge of getting students at Jeongjingak, and a lot of kids want to apply because he lets anyone apply, no matter how tall they are.
As before, the Crown Prince is now the King, and they are trying to catch the relics that got away from Jinyowon. So far, 12 have been found, but there are still more to find. As for our couple, Jang-uk and Bu-yeon, they are having the best time of their lives together, protecting the realm and collecting these relics. But they will have to come back for the twins’ birthday, right?
Review of Alchemy of Souls Season 2
So Alchemy of Souls ends on a happy note since everything is wrapped up and our main characters don’t die in the end, at least not the good ones.
Jin-mu, the Unanimous Assembly, and the King and Queen are all dead now. The lineage is now in good hands with the Crown Prince, who is obviously now the King. This season has shown that he is more than ready to take over and move the Kingdom forward.
The story ends well for the rest of the characters, too. Yul goes to train the next generation, and Bu-Yeon and Jang-Uk work together to find the Jinyowon relics. There’s also a nice bit of yin and yang energy, with Uk and Naksu as the light and shadow, which is mentioned several times in this season.
This second season isn’t perfect, and sometimes the pace has been all over the place. Even so, there is still a lot to like here, and fans should be pretty happy with how this one ends.
Alchemy of Souls Season 3: Renewed or Canceled?
Alchemy of Souls Season 3 isn’t a huge surprise, since there will have been a total of 30 episodes, and the Hong sisters have written the story so that it almost has to end once Jin Mu’s threat has been stopped and Naksu’s fate has been decided.
