Savannah Chrisley is still an outspoken supporter of her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who are incarcerated at the moment. She recently expressed worry that her mother would not survive her term if the supposedly “beyond inhumane” conditions she and the other inmates are subjected to don’t improve.
Savannah talked about her recent visit to her mother’s detention facility, the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lexington, Kentucky, in this week’s edition of her Unlocked podcast. Savannah revealed that Julie is having a lot of trouble because of the facility’s extreme heat.
Savannah Claims That the Intense Heat is Hurting Her Mother
Thank god there is air conditioning in the visitation room; however, there is no air conditioning outdoors, and the temperature was between 105 and 110 degrees.
Savannah went on, “And that’s what mom’s living in, in conditions like that with no air at all and it can get up to 100 degrees inside the building.”
Because elderly people’s bodies are less capable of controlling their body temperature, extreme heat can be especially dangerous for them. Extended exposure to elevated temperatures can result in heat-related ailments like dehydration and heat stroke, both of which can be fatal if left untreated.
Savannah said, “She literally said that she got physically sick because she got so hot.” “There are service dogs with air conditioning [at the same facility] despite the fact that these women are about to fall out from heat exhaustion. I can’t make any sense of it. It is quite cruel.
Julie and Todd’s Health Are Both in Danger
Currently serving six-year terms for tax evasion and ten-year sentences for fraud, the former reality stars are Julie and Todd. They are currently contesting their criminal charges, so there’s a potential they could be released early. In September, their sentences were lowered.
Savannah revealed a letter she said she got from a Marine Veteran who is incarcerated at FPC Pensacola later in the audio program. Todd is serving his time in this minimum-security jail located in Florida. The letter, which repeated Todd’s concerns, detailed the unforgiving circumstances that prisoners must endure when confined for both living and working.
She cited the letter and said, “This is what your taxpayer dollars are going to pay for.” It will fund abuse rather than provide for recovery. Instead of showing these people love, it will be used to compensate for their mistreatment.
Savannah notes that this letter is not the only one of its kind she has received and hopes that by bringing attention to the issue, she will spark reform. “There are so many things that I look forward to doing and accomplishing now and when my parents get out of prison, so I hope you guys continue to follow along on this journey,” she said in closing.
