According to series creator Chris Lang, the new season of Unforgotten has been in development for nearly a decade.
Speaking about the upcoming season, Lang said: “I’m really happy to be about to start filming the sixth series of Unforgotten, with a story that has been gestating for over eight years, since June 23rd, 2016, when our country appeared to fracture in two.
“The UK, and indeed the world, has today never seemed more divided, and series six attempts to try and understand how we got to where we are now and, perhaps more importantly, where we can go from here.”
Season 6’s series synopsis reads: “When suspected human remains are discovered on Whitney Marsh, Jess and Sunny are called to the site, ditching their plans for the evening, much to the annoyance of Jess’s husband Steve.
“According to Dr. Balcombe’s expert investigation of the human spine, the remains are quite recent, and she believes the body was dissected before being placed there. With this knowledge, Jess and Sunny proceed to search the region, knowing that further body parts are not far away.

Lang wrote each of the upcoming six episodes, which will be directed by Andy Wilson (Ripper Street, Spooks), who has directed all 30 episodes in the previous five seasons.
