What We Know About the Release Date of Arcane Season 2

Arcane Season 2 has yet to get an official release date. We do know it’s coming, though, because the show’s comeback was confirmed after the season 1 finale. The teaser above doesn’t offer much, other than the fact that season 2 is in the works. And that three characters from season 1 will return (more on this later). Still, we’re delighted that Arcane is getting a sequel. It most surely deserves one.

But when will it be available on Netflix again? That’s difficult to say right now since we don’t know how far season 2 is along. But don’t expect it until 2022, according to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent. He is who tweeted that the next installment in the series. It won’t be available until next year. Arcane Season 2 is expected to be released in 2023. Given that Fortiche Productions has recently issued a job advertisement. Further seeking new FX3D artists for season 2. All thanks for the heads up. Reddit opens in a new tab. Season 2 development is also in its early phases.

Don’t expect Riot Games’ recent acquisition of a non-controlling share in Fortiche(opens in new tab) to speed things up. At the same time, the move will allow the two companies to collaborate more closely. During the early ideation and storyboard development of Arcane. It has been a key partner throughout the development of the show. They will still need to take their time to ensure that. Every aspect of season 2’s production is as good as possible.

Arcane Season 2

We’re content to wait: the program clearly requires a lot of time. With further attention to be as amazing as it is. And rushing it will only result in a lousy follow-up. Season 2 will hopefully arrive in early 2023. But even if it doesn’t, we’ll cheerfully wait until December 31, 2023, for the debut.

What Is the Story About in Arcane Season 2?

Major Arcane season 1 spoilers follow.

If you’ve seen Arcane’s first season, you’ll know that some characters may not return for the second season. Because, in the season one finale, Jinx launched an arcane crystal rocket at Piltover’s council chamber, trapping several important and supporting characters within. Jayce, Mel, Viktor, Cassandra, Hoskel, Bolbok, Shoola, and Salo were among those there when the rocket burst.

And we don’t expect all of those people to live. If we had to guess, we’d think Mel and Cassandra would either have died or been seriously hurt. Jayce and Caitlyn would have a strong motivation to pursue Jinx, given Mel and Cassandra are Jayce’s partner and Caitlyn’s mother, respectively. So we expect Jayce to break his vow to give Zaun independence from Piltover in Arcane season 2, especially now that Jinx (a Zaun citizen) has carried out a terrorist assault on the latter’s council.

Caitlyn, too, may want vengeance if her mother was harmed or murdered. Further putting her at odds with Vi, with whom Caitlyn had become close. After all, she is Jinx’s sister. Thus Vi will be forced to choose between assisting Caitlyn and Jayce. It is done to bring her sister to justice and attempting to save Jinx from herself, which would pit her against Caitlyn and Jayce.

That isn’t the only issue that might cause a schism between Caitlyn and Vi. In response to a fan’s question on Twitter regarding whether Caitlyn is aware that Vi and her gang blew up Jayce’s lab at the start of season 2, Arcane writer Amanda Overton indicated that she is not.

Could Caitlyn discover the truth in the second season of the show? It’s very probable, and we’re sure she’ll be upset if she does. Regardless, anticipate Piltover and Zaun’s feud to take center stage in Arcane season 2. Tensions between the two countries were already boiling throughout the program’s first season. We wouldn’t be shocked if a full-fledged conflict erupted. As a result of Jinx’s attack on Piltover’s council.

Arcane Season 2

Other plotlines that Arcane season 2 will have to deal with include Heimerdinger and Ekko working together to assist the undercity. After being voted from Piltover’s council in episode 7 of season 1. He ran encountered a wounded Ekko on the streets of Zaun in episode 8. The couple bond over their similar interest in technology, and after Heimerdinger assists Ekko in returning home, the two vow to work together to alleviate Zaun’s suffering.

We’ll also have to observe if Viktor will entirely immerse himself in his Hextech study. As a result of his Hexcore studies, he has already mistakenly slain his childhood buddy Sky, and it looks like he may take a darker route in season 2. If we know anything about LoL mythology, we may see Viktor employ Hextech to further cybernetically alter his body and become the LoL champion that ardent LoL fans know him to be.

Who Will Return for Arcane Season 2?

There has been no confirmation on this front. However, based on the above teaser, we’re convinced that a trio of female characters will return for Arcane’s sequel:

Hailee Steinfeld plays vi.

Ella Purnell plays jinx.

Katie Leung plays Caitlyn.

Vi, Jinx, and Caitlyn will all be returning for Arcane season 2, as the video in the tweet above shows. We hear the trio’s voices at various moments in the teaser, and considering that all three watched on throughout that tense season 1 conclusion rather than being there in the room, we know they’re safe and will return for season 2.

So, who else could make a comeback? That depends on who survives the council chamber attack in Piltover. As previously said, we believe Mel and/or Cassandra may be killed or injured. As a result of Jinx’s strike, as may any of the other council members. However, we believe Jayce will survive. In our opinion, he has a larger role to play, and he will undoubtedly seek to bring Jinx to justice for her misdeeds.

Ekko and Heimerdinger should also return for season 2. They should return because they were not involved in the council chamber attack. Further, we’ll see how their character arcs develop in Arcane’s second season. Viktor, who was in the council chamber at the time of Jinx’s attack, should also return.

Season 2 will most likely see the introduction of additional characters. There were several fatalities in Arcane’s first installment – Silco, Vander, and Marcus, to mention a few. Thus fresh supporting characters are required. We don’t know who will appear, but there are many LoL heroes and villains that Riot, Netflix, and Fortiche Productions may choose from the gaming franchise’s universe and employ for the animated series.

Wrapping Up

No, and we won’t see one for a while. We’ll update this section whenever one is available. Clearly, yes. The program has a 100 percent ‘fresh’ rating among critics on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes(opens in new tab) and a 96 percent ‘fresh’ rating based on viewer feedback.

Arcane Season 2 was a formality given its critical praise and popularity. That may not have been the case before its premiere. But once Netflix realized how well it was doing. It was just a matter of time until it was renewed for a second season.

There are still many tales to tell, character arcs to wrap up, and new characters and champions to introduce, so Arcane will never run out of storyline or character development possibilities. We’re also great admirers of Fortiche’s aesthetics for the animation series, so we’d love to see a lot more episodes of the TV program.
