T20 cricket is currently looking ahead to the 2022 World Cup. The focus is on international cricket right now with the Asia Cup about to give way to the biggest competition in this format.

However, it’s never a bad time to move further ahead to the next edition of the Indian Premier League. Earlier this year, an expanded event with ten teams gave us the best IPL to date, but 2023 promises to be even better.

Teams in Contention

Since the conclusion of the IPL, there have been some outstanding performances in domestic one-day cricket around the world. The Caribbean Premier League is in full swing while, in England, The Hundred has just finished its second season.

The best franchise teams in the IPL would have already been scouting for fresh talent, but who is in need of reinforcements?

According to the best sports betting sites as sourced by Asiabet, there are three joint favourites at the top of the IPL outright winner market. Defending champions the Gujarat Titans are joined by Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The teams looking for new talent are those struggling at the bottom of the market. According to the betting, the teams who are least likely to win are Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The markets will be in place until the 2023 tournament begins and they will then transfer to the live sections of each sportsbook. Asiabet will continue to monitor the situation and any changes will be reflected on their website.

While assessing the figures, readers can take in news articles, bookmaker reviews and some handy betting guides. There’s lots of information to hand and visitors can also put that knowledge to the test if they wish.

Each betting operator will be ready to accept new customers and many have published generous welcome promotions. As the account progresses, there may be additional bonuses to take advantage of.

All sportsbooks should have a range of deposit and withdrawal options, together with live markets, mobile betting and the potential for live streaming top class sport.

All will become clear at the player auction for the 2023 season, but here are some of the young players that all ten IPL franchises may want to consider.

Harry Tector

Ireland are a rapidly improving nation that are producing some fine young cricketers. With the June results they pushed India to the wire in the second T20 international which was notable for Deepak Hooda’s first century for the national side.

Harry Tector made 39 as the Irish pushed India and he is an exceptional talent. At 22, he’s already made two ODI centuries and has an exceptional batting average of 47.10 in this format. Tector earned a contract with Barbados in the CPL and IPL franchises should be monitoring him closely.

Will Smeed

Somerset’s Will Smeed made headlines in August when he became the first batter to score a century in The Hundred. Not everyone is a fan of the 100-ball format but to pass three figures in such a short game is an exceptional feat.

Smeed had previously made 98 in the T20 Blast and 99 in the PSL so he’s capable of the big scores and would have certainly been watched by at least one IPL team.

Brandon King

A number of hard hitting West Indian batters have been selected by IPL teams but Brandon King has fallen under the radar up to this point. At 27, he is not the youngest pick but he has a solid record in limited overs cricket and could be a useful squad member.

It’s also worth noting that King made a colossal T20 score of 132 for Guyana in the 2019 CPL.

Josh Little

Ireland feature again through left arm seam bowler Josh Little. The 22-year-old has been playing international cricket since 2019 and he can deliver genuine pace and bounce.

Little is another player to have made an impact at The Hundred, taking five wickets in a game to help his Manchester Originals side into the Eliminator.

Duan Jansen

South Africa’s Marco Jansen has already featured at the IPL so why wouldn’t those ten franchises want to consider his twin brother?

Duan Jansen is currently playing at the CPL and is a mirror image of his sibling – tall with seam and swing from his left arm bowling, and he’s a useful batter in the lower order.
