What occurs in the book’s conclusion, The Girl in the Mirror?
Alma was one of the select few people to survive the bus accident. Tom lost a limb, and Deva, her best friend and potential boyfriend, died. Alma wakes up with no memory of who she is, where she is, or what happened to her friends. We find that Alma and her family are still grieving the loss of Alma’s twin sister Lara. Alma’s friends can all feel Lara’s absence, and it’s quite distressing.
Alma is not amnesic, as the series reveals. Towards the end of the show, the individual who seems to be Alma is identified. The spell to drive Alma’s body and protect her from Therion’s followers was cast by Deva. Tom feels cheated after learning that Alma is a Deva. Deva sends her mother a video of her stepfather Ricardo abusing her, in which she can be seen. When Ricardo does arrive, he almost kills Alma there. Lara and Deva decide that Alma needs to live her own life and will be okay on her own.
At the conclusion of the show, Martin visits Bruno to thank him for saving him. They had been planned to kidnap Martin and take him to Therion, so while the reunion is nice it is also ironic as Roque, one of the kids involved in the collision, says he is a Therion devotee. Bruno is one of Therion’s followers. They can be recognized by their black eyes. As the story concludes, Therion is getting ready to reenter this planet.
