This literally makes people sick with fear.
While most horror films keep audiences up at night, “Terrifier 2” is reportedly so gory that viewers are puking and fainting in their chairs. Before Thursday’s special premiere of director Damien Leone’s film, people on social media shared their abhorrent viewing experiences.
The crowd-funded independent horror film is the “Uncut and Uncompromised” sequel to “Terrifier,” a film about a psychotic killer clown named Art the Clown, according to Bloody Disgusting. The film will be shown in over 850 theatres around the country. In this bloody sequel, a malicious power resurrects the murderous harlequin, who then terrorizes a teenage girl and her brother on Halloween. Imagine “It” with gallons more blood and intestines.
This may sound like a typical horror film scenario, but “Terrifier 2” was praised for its goresploitation-style violent violence. Bloody Disgusting’s John Squires raved, “It’s the kind of horror film that simply doesn’t exist anymore.”
This blood-soaked horror sequel may have been too successful. Following its debut, fans raced to social media to share accounts of how “T2” rendered them nauseous and even vomit.
“My friend fainted and the theatre phoned for an ambulance.” “Highly recommended!” screamed a satisfied viewer on Twitter beside a photo of a viewer in a state of terror being treated by paramedics.
“The man behind me fainted and fell onto my chair,” said another. “Another man left because he didn’t feel well,” I overheard him add, and as I exited the theatre, I heard a man violently and loudly vomit in the lavatory.
One horrified horror enthusiast remarked, “I puked on my popcorn while watching Terrifier 2.“
Bloody Disgusting said that “T2’s” vomit-inducing prowess may have paid off financially, as the not-for-the-squeamish slasher grossed $1.4 million in less than a week at the box office. In other words, its popularity spread as a result of word-of-mouth.
This is hardly the only recent film to disturb spectators. This week, social media fans urged Netflix to add a trigger warning to the film “Luckiest Girl Alive” starring Mila Kunis due to frightening scenes of sexual abuse.
