HBO‘s next fantasy drama series, ‘House of the Dragon,’ is a prequel spinoff to the series Game of Thrones,’ and it will premiere in 2019. The show was conceived by Ryan J. Condal and George R. R. Martin, who is also the author of the books that serve as the basis for the series. The events of the show take place hundreds of years before the events of the original story.
Although “House of the Dragon” also depicts a battle for the Iron Throne, this one focuses on a disagreement between members of the Targaryen family.
And while dragons had not become extinct two hundred years before Robert’s Rebellion, this one had many of them since the Targaryens were the only ones who had them at the time. The finale of “Game of Thrones” was less than satisfying for fans, but many keep their fingers crossed for “HotD.”
What exactly is this about?
As was just noted, “House of the Dragon” is a prequel to “Game of Thrones” and takes place two centuries before the events of that series. The narrative is an adaptation of the book titled “Fire & Blood” written by George R. R. Martin.
It examines a pivotal event in the history of Westeros known as the Dance of Dragons, in which opposing Targaryen families fought a bloody and spectacular war that involved gigantic dragon battles. This conflict was termed the Dance of Dragons.
Who is the mastermind?
Ryan J. Condal and George R. R. Martin are the masterminds behind it, as was just revealed. In addition, Miguel Sapochnik, who directed some of the most memorable episodes of “Game of Thrones,” will handle the show’s premiere and probably a lot of its subsequent episodes as well. Composer Ramin Djawadi is back for the sequel, much like he was for the first episode.

How many seasons?
We do not know for sure, but Dance of Dragons does not have enough material in itself to warrant a length like the original.

Why should fans of “Game of Thrones” check out “House of the Dragon”?
“House of the Dragon” should be just up your alley, for starters, if one of the reasons you enjoyed “Game of Thrones” was because of the conflicts between mythological animals like dragons and dire wolves, then “Game of Thrones” was a good choice for you.
In addition, we should anticipate the same level of intrigue, backstabbing, and planning that distinguished the first installment. It would be wonderful to go back to Westeros because the imaginary world there is so vibrant and rich in detail.
