Many famous people, including those from the TV show “S*x and the City,” have accessorized Gonzalez-made items.

While a certificate is necessary for the sale of crocodile skins, getting one may be difficult and expensive.

U.S. and Colombian authorities said that Gonzalez smuggled hundreds of handbags into the United States by bribing airline passengers to stow them in their checked baggage. She instructed them to inform customs officials that the items in the bags were presents for friends and family.

Gonzalez began her career in the fashion industry as a belt designer, but in 1998, after being encouraged to expand into the handbag market by a manager at a high-end boutique, she made the switch. Her first American exhibition was held in Bergdorf Goodman, a high-end department store in New York City.

In 2008, an exhibition of her art was shown at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

It has been said that celebrities including Britney Spears, Victoria Beckham, and Salma Hayek have purchased handbags from Gonzalez. Whether or whether these celebs’ purses were among those smuggled into the U.S. is still up in the air.
