Elon Musk‘s child has filed a name change petition, saying that “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
The 18-year-old, whose full new name we are concealing for privacy reasons, wishes to adopt her mother, Elon Musk’s first wife, Justine Musk‘s maiden name.
The petition to have her gender officially recognized as female and her name formally changed on a new birth certificate were filed in California Superior Court in April, and a hearing will be held later this month.
According to TMZ, the legal filings were submitted on behalf of 18-year-old Xavier Musk, the name she was given at birth.

The official explanation offered is “gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be tied to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
TMZ also said that her full name will be Vivian Jenna Wilson, taking her mother’s last name, and that “she wants to be a model.”
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, the petition was submitted in April, not long after Vivian turned 18.
Musk has seven children: Griffin, Vivian, Kai, Saxon, and Damian, whom he had with Canadian author Justine Wilson while they were married from 2000 to 2008, and X AE A-XI and Exa Dark Sidereal, whom he has with singer Grimes.

Musk has joked about the concept of gender variations in various tweets, stating on June 11 that “we’re concurrently being informed that gender variations don’t exist and that genders are so deeply different that irreversible surgical operation is the only option.”
