Elon Musk‘s child has filed a name change petition, saying that “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
The 18-year-old, whose full new name we are concealing for privacy reasons, wishes to adopt her mother, Elon Musk’s first wife, Justine Musk‘s maiden name.
The petition to have her gender officially recognized as female and her name formally changed on a new birth certificate were filed in California Superior Court in April, and a hearing will be held later this month.
According to TMZ, the legal filings were submitted on behalf of 18-year-old Xavier Musk, the name she was given at birth.
The official explanation offered is “gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be tied to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
TMZ also said that her full name will be Vivian Jenna Wilson, taking her mother’s last name, and that “she wants to be a model.”
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, the petition was submitted in April, not long after Vivian turned 18.
Musk has seven children: Griffin, Vivian, Kai, Saxon, and Damian, whom he had with Canadian author Justine Wilson while they were married from 2000 to 2008, and X AE A-XI and Exa Dark Sidereal, whom he has with singer Grimes.
The petition to have her gender formally recognized as feminine and her name formally changed on a fresh new delivery certificate were filed in California Superior Court in April, and a hearing will be held later this month.
TMZ was the first to reveal the submission, which suddenly began circulating on Reddit and Twitter this weekend.
Prior to the TMZ revelation, The Daily Beast emailed Elon Musk about his daughter’s petition, and he said, “She doesn’t need to be a public determine.” I believe it is critical to safeguard her right to privacy. Please do not out someone against their will—it is not proper.”
As a result, the material was revealed by a number of different media outlets, including The Los Angeles Times.
The Nationwide LGBTQ Activity Pressure’s communications director, Cathy Renna, told that the group “would by no means endorse or condone the outing of a child because they had well-known father and mother.”
“One hopes that this serves as a wake-up call to Elon Musk, who has a history of constructing anti-trans and rude feedback, particularly over pronoun usage.” We hope she gets aid from different relatives and is aware that she has a large neighborhood that will help her no matter what,” Renna added.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, a self-described “free speech absolutist,” came under criticism in 2020 for tweeting that “pronouns stink,” prompting his current associate, Grimes, to urge him to show her his phone since she “can’t help hate.”
Months later, Musk stated in another tweet that he “totally supports trans, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare.”
Musk has joked about the concept of gender variations in various tweets, stating on June 11 that “we’re concurrently being informed that gender variations don’t exist and that genders are so deeply different that irreversible surgical operation is the only option.”
“Perhaps someone wiser than me can clarify this dichotomy,” he continued. At the same time, he and singer Grimes, who is known as “gender-neutral,” apparently embraced a gender-neutral parenting style for their two children.
“Elon’s judgment overruled mine, and he was constantly marveling at how he discovered me absent.” ‘I’m your spouse, not your worker,’ I reminded him often. ‘If you were my employee,’ he frequently said, ‘I would dismiss you.'”
After their divorce, Justine, a successful novelist, went on to keep their children out of the spotlight, however, she recently garnered attention for showing to tweet about the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp defamation trial, in which Elon Musk had a supporting role.
