Early life

James was born on October 6, 2004, to LeBron James, 19, and Savannah Brinson, 18. They married in 2013 and James was raised by both parents.

James grew up playing basketball and soccer, but his father forbade him from playing football or ice hockey for safety reasons. [7] [8] By 2014, James has been included in national basketball highlight clips.  In February 2018, James led his middle school, Old Trail School in Bath Township, Summit County, Ohio, to an Independent School League victory.

James played on several AAU basketball teams before high school. At nine years old, he played for the Miami City Ballers in an AAU tournament seen by Kentucky Wildcats coach John Calipari.   His Gulf Coast Blue Chips AAU squad won the fourth grade League Dallas/Hype Sports Summer Jam in June 2015.

On April 2, 2018, his Blue Chips won the under-13 NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish event in Wisconsin.

James played for the same club in the Jr. National Basketball Association (NBA) Midwest Championships in June, reaching the quarterfinals. [18] His AAU squad Strive for Greatness competed in the under-16 Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) in Indianapolis in April 2019 and garnered accolades from scouts.

James started Crossroads School, a private K–12 schools in Santa Monica, on August 6.

A career in High School

James started his first year at Sierra Canyon School, a private K–12 school in Chatsworth, Los Angeles, on May 29, 2019. He joined his brother Bryce and incoming senior Zaire Wade, son of James’ father’s longtime basketball colleague Dwyane Wade.  Five-star prospects Brandon Boston Jr. and Zaire Williams joined James at Sierra Canyon.  The squad was one of the finest in high school basketball, and ESPN aired 15 of its games. On November 21, 2019, James scored 10 points off the bench in a rout of Montgomery High School.  At St. Vincent-St. Mary High School on December 14, James scored 15 points, including a game-winning layup, and was voted MVP.  On January 15, 2020, he had 17 points against Viewpoint School. James averaged 4.1 points in 15 minutes per game as a freshman and was Sierra Canyon’s lone player to participate in all 34 games.  James tore his meniscus in his second season, requiring surgery.
