Diggs attended the University of Alabama for his undergraduate studies. During his freshman year, he was a wide receiver, a safety, and a return specialist. Diggs had five tackles, 11 receptions, and a touchdown in his first season with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He became a full-time cornerback in his sophomore year, recording six tackles and three passes defended. Diggs missed the first six games of his junior season due to a broken foot, but he finished with 20 tackles and one interception. In 2019, he started 12 games and totaled 37 tackles, three interceptions, and eight passes defended.

The Dallas Cowboys selected Diggs in the second round with the 51st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He recorded his first career sack in a 38-49 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.
