Spencer Gray Dinwiddie (born April 6, 1993) is an American basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks (NBA). In 2013, as a sophomore for the Colorado Buffaloes, he was named Pac-12’s first-team all-conference. His anterior cruciate ligament injury cost him his junior year (ACL). Dinwiddie bounced back and was drafted by the Pistons in the second round in 2014. He spent two seasons with the Pistons before being dealt with the Brooklyn Nets in December 2016. Dinwiddie was traded to the Mavericks in February 2022.

High School Career
Dinwiddie was one of the best athletes at William Howard Taft High School since Jordan Farmar. During his junior season, he averaged 5.9 points and 4.1 assists per game with fellow 2014 draftee DeAndre Daniels. Dinwiddie topped his game in his last year, averaging 11.2 points and 7.7 assists. In 2011, he was named the John R. Wooden California High School Player of the Year. But Ryan Anderson of Long Beach Poly was awarded Mr. Basketball. Dinwiddie was one of seven seniors to receive the honor. This season, Daniels and Dinwiddie won the city title. Dinwiddie’s last season at Taft drew interest from institutions around the nation. He chooses Colorado over Harvard, Oregon, Santa Clara, and UNLV.
In 2011, Rivals.com ranked Dinwiddie as the nation’s No. 25 point guard and No. 146 overall player.

National team career
2013 – Dinwiddie was selected to the United States Men’s Basketball World University Games Team, which competed in the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia. He was one of just three players on the United States national team to appear in all eight games. He averaged 7.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, and he was the team’s leading assist and steel producer, with 44 assists (5.5 assists per game) and 12 thefts (1.5 SPG).
A report that he intended to play for the Nigerian national team was verified on April 19, 2020, by the player.

Dinwiddie is the son of Malcolm and Stephanie Dinwiddie, and he has a younger brother, Taylor.
