Axl Rose Net Worth: How Much Co-Founder of Guns N’ Roses Earns?

Axl Rose Net Worth: Axl Rose was born on February 6, 1962 in Lafayette, Indiana as William Bruce Rose, Jr. Rose’s mother, Sharon, was 16 at the time of his birth, and his father, William Sr., was 20. Rose’s parents divorced when he was two years old, and his father abducted and allegedly raped him before fleeing town.

Rose’s mother later married Stephen L. Bailey and legally changed her son’s name to William Bruce Bailey. Rose thought Bailey was his biological father until he was 17 years old. (In 1984, his biological father, William Rose Sr., was assassinated in Marion, Illinois.)

Rose was raised in a pious household; he was forced to attend Pentecostal church services three to eight times per week and to teach Sunday school.

Rose discovered music as an emotional expression at a young age. When he was five, he began singing in the church choir, and in high school, he joined the school chorus and learned piano.

Around the same time, he formed a band with some of his pals, one of which was fellow Guns N’ Roses member Jeff Isbell, afterwards known as Izzy Stradlin.

Rose began identifying to himself as W. Rose after learning of his biological father’s existence. At this point, he also began to run afoul of the law and was imprisoned. Rose was arrested over 20 times for various offences such as public intoxication and violence.

When Lafayette authorities threatened to arrest him as a chronic felon in 1982, he packed his belongings and relocated to Los Angeles.

When he moved to Los Angeles, he became so engrossed in his band, AXL, that friends pushed him to adopt the stage name Axl Rose. Prior to signing a contract with Geffen Records in March 1986, he legally changed his name to W. Axl Rose.

Rose was a member of a variety of bands in the Los Angeles hard rock scene, including Rapidfire, Hollywood Rose, and L.A. Guns.

To make ends meet, he took odd jobs and even smoked cigarettes for a scientific research at UCLA for $8 per hour (adjusted for inflation, it would be $20 in 2019). Guns N’ Roses was created in March 1985, and within a year it had gained the attention of many big record labels.

In December 1985, the band released its debut four-song EP.

Success

Guns N’ Roses had a lot of success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Appetite for Destruction, the band’s debut album released in 1987, has sold approximately 30 million copies worldwide to date. (As of this writing, it remains the best-selling debut album of all time in the United States.)

The band’s subsequent albums, Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, released in September 1991, sold a total of 35 million copies worldwide. Guns N’ Roses has sold well over 100 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands in history.

Although Rose has been primarily reclusive since the late 1990s, he is the only band member who has been with Guns N’ Roses since the band’s beginnings.

Rose was inducted as a member of Guns N’ Roses into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, but he did not attend the ceremony. In 2016, he travelled with AC/DC as the band’s new lead singer, taking over for Brian Johnson.

Rose made $20 million from his numerous efforts between June 2017 and June 2018. After the band reformed for the “Not In This Lifetime Tour,” the majority of his earnings came from touring. The tour went on to gross over $430 million globally.

Personal life

Despite his public image, Rose has never been a strong drug user, yet he has not abstained from using illicit substances entirely. Rose was hospitalised in 1986 after purposefully overdosing on medications due to stress.

The lyrics to Guns N’ Roses’ song “Coma” were inspired by this encounter.

In the early 1990s, Rose became a firm believer in homoeopathy, a pseudoscientific system of alternative medicine. He would go through former life regression therapy on a regular basis.

Rose employed a personal psychic to look at images of potential employees and “read their auras” to evaluate whether or not they should be hired while Chinese Democracy was being recorded.

Rose began dating model Erin Everly, the daughter of Everly Brothers singer Don Everly, in early 1986. Rose penned “Sweet Child o’ Mine” for Everly in 1987, and she starred in the music video. The pair married four years later, in the spring of 1990, in Las Vegas.

Rose filed for divorce less than a month later. For a time, the pair was able to restore their relationship, but Everly eventually left Rose after a fight. In January 1991, they declared their marriage null and void.

Everly filed a lawsuit three years later, accusing Rose of physical and emotional abuse. The case was resolved out of court.

Rose began dating supermodel Stephanie Seymour shortly after his divorce from Everly. Seymour appears in the music videos “Don’t Cry” and “November Rain.” Rose and Seymour got engaged in February 1993, but they split up three weeks later.

Rose was also said to have dated artist Lana Del Rey.
