Bruce Bochy, a highly respected and accomplished figure in the world of Major League Baseball, is widely known for his successful managerial career and his contributions to the sport. Yet, behind every great man is an equally remarkable woman, and Bruce Bochy’s life is no exception. In this article, we will introduce you to Bruce Bochy’s wife, Kim Bochy, and explore the role she has played in supporting her husband’s illustrious career.
Brief Details About Bruce Bochy
Bochy is most known for his time as a Major League Baseball manager. He was born in Bussac-ForĂȘt, France. He started his career as a catcher for the Houston Astros, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres before moving into management.
He managed the San Diego Padres from 1995 to 2006 and then the San Francisco Giants from 2006 to 2019. Bochy had all but retired from baseball following his time with the Giants, but he returned to the field in 2023 as the manager of the Texas Rangers, and he led the Rangers to their first World Series triumph, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1.
“I knew this was the right fit for me,” Bochy said following the game, according to CBS News.
Bruce became the first manager of European ancestry to win the World Series. He is also the first manager in MLB history to have won at least 900 games with two different teams. He has around 2,900 career wins as a manager (as of October 2023).
Who is Bruce Bochy’s Wife?
Bruce Bochy is married to Kim Seib. The couple had been childhood sweethearts since 1975, when they met at Brevard Community College. The pair married in 1978 after being together for a few years. Bochy and Kim live in Poway, California, and Nashville, Tennessee, respectively.
After retiring at the end of the 2019 season, Bruce returned to the MLB as the manager of the Texas Rangers in 2023. While he was overjoyed to be back, Kim was less so. Bruce just recalled her reaction in a humorous interview:
“What is it about your life that you dislike?” “You’re fishing and golfing,” Bruce said, quoting his wife, Kim Seib.
Does Bruce Bochy Have Children?
Greg and Brett are the sons of Bruce Bochy and Kim Seib. Both sons, like their father, were baseball players. Greg spent several years in the minor leagues with the San Diego Padres but never made it to the majors. Brett, the younger son, was taken in the 20th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Francisco Giants. Bruce became the seventh manager in MLB history to manage his own kid when he joined his father’s squad.
On September 13, 2014, he made his MLB debut, making his father the first manager in history to deliver the ball to his son immediately out of the bullpen. Brett appeared in three games with the Giants that season, recording an ERA of 5.40. Despite not playing in the Giants’ postseason run, Brett was still eligible to win the 2014 World Series as a member of the team.
