Myprotein Pre-Workout Review 2023: Myprotein Pre-Workout Ingredients

New pre-workout supplements like Myprotein Pro seem to come out every week.

Unfortunately, as fitness coaches, we’ve seen that the fitness industry often spends more on advertising than on the actual ingredients formula.

As a result, most pre-workouts on the market are little more than sweet snacks before a workout.

But, like all pre-workouts we’ve tried, we gave it a fair chance and did some research and testing to see how it worked.

Here’s what we found.

What Is ​​Myprotein Pre-Workout?

Myprotein Pre-workout is a supplement made from natural ingredients that help improve mental focus, bring out your best performance, and make you feel less tired. It is made by the supplement company Myprotein, which is one of the most well-known companies that makes protein powders to use after a workout.

The label looks like it has some interesting ingredients, like beta-alanine and creatine, but the product is still pretty new.

Since it was introduced as a new supplement on the Myprotein website in 2020, neither the packaging nor the formula have changed.

Benefits Of Myprotein “Pre-Workout”

The first thing I want to point out as a positive is that, unlike other pre-workout formulas, this company doesn’t hide behind a proprietary formula. This makes it much easier to take other supplements at the same time.

It also has a good amount of beta-alanine, which is one of my favourite amino acids. There’s a lot of evidence from science that it can help you do better.

It also has citrulline, which is often found in pre-workout supplements. This has been shown in the lab to increase nitric oxide levels and blood flow, and I did feel some good pumps while training.

For two weeks, I took this pre-workout about 30 minutes before my workout. Every time, I got a good boost to my physical performance for the first 20 minutes, but then it went away.

I think that’s because there’s only 2,000 mg of beta-alanine and some successful clinical studies have used 6,000 mg.

I also didn’t get a big boost to my mind, which might be because the amount of caffeine was so low.

There’s also the taste. This pre-workout probably ranks near the bottom for flavour because it tastes like really sweet energy drinks.

  • The taste isn’t good, and it leaves a sickly sweet aftertaste that isn’t nice.

 

It’s a good pre-workout because of the ingredients, but some of them aren’t strong enough. And the taste kind of ruins it a lot.

L-Citrulline (4,000mg)

This is an ingredient we always like to see in pre-workouts, and our results are very similar to those of clinical trials that showed an improvement in blood flow and athletic performance.

Beta-Alanine (2,000mg)

This is another good ingredient to add, and research shows that it has a direct effect on strength and endurance. But in those tests, a stronger dose was used to get those results.

Betaine Anhydrous (2,500mg)

Studies on this ingredient have not come to a clear conclusion, and one large study showed that it had little to no effect on blood flow and pumps.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine (750mg)

A lot of research has been done on L-tyrosine, but the results have been mixed. I haven’t noticed any big benefits from it, and the pre-workout products that work best don’t have it.

Creatine Monohydrate (2,000mg)

We also like to see creatine in pre-workout supplements, and a meta-study showed that most clinical trials have shown a positive effect. But the dose in those tests was up to 10 times stronger than in Myprotein Pro.

Caffeine Anhydrous (150mg)

A lot has been learned about how caffeine affects your metabolism and how well you work out. In one study, it was clear that taking it before weight lifting made people do better.

Theacrine (50mg)

Studies have shown that theacrine doesn’t do much, and I think it’s a waste to put it in this Myprotein supplement. A little more caffeine might have helped the company reach its goal.
