Fan Controlled Football (FCF), a professional American football league that is similar to a video game and is administered by fans, has announced a $40 million Series A round of funding led by Animoca Brands and Delphi Digital, as well as other investors. A portion of the investment will be utilised to extend the league by introducing two new teams, both of which will be governed by non-fungible token (NFT) holders and will be based on the NFT themes of the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the Gutter Cat Gang.
FCF was established in February of 2021 with a total of four teams at the time of its inception. Fan participation in the league is encouraged through physical football games in which they have the power to make team management and playing decisions, including the selection of players and the calling of real-time play calls.
