It was sometime between November 2021 and March 2022 when the fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery was made available to the public. The first season had a total of 15 episodes, while the second season had 14, and the third and fourth seasons each had 13 episodes. The number of episodes continued to drop with each subsequent season.
The conclusion of the fourth season has been three months behind us, and every day brings new inquiries regarding the upcoming fifth season. Is there a correlation between the falling amount of episodes and the falling audience ratings for the series? Is the fifth season of Star Trek: Discovery still going to be made? If that’s the case, does that mean there will be fewer episodes? You’ll find the solutions farther down.
Date of the Release of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5
In January 2022, as part of a big announcement about the future of the Star Trek Universe, season five of Star Trek: Discovery was given the go-ahead.
Along with the news, it was also said that Picard will end after its third season and that Strange New Worlds has been given a second season.
Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything else about when it will be back on TV. Even the last series didn’t come out at a regular time, so we can’t use that as a guide.
The first season came out in September 2017, the second season came out in January 2019, the third season came out in October 2020, and the fourth season came out in November 2021. See? There’s no real link.
According to the digitalspy, since the show has always put out a new season once a year, we can hope that season five will come out in the second half of 2022.
Is Star Trek Discovery a flop?
In spite of all of the success that the series has brought to Paramount+, it is possible that it will still be regarded as a failure by the standards of the industry. This is especially true when one considers the success that other series have had on platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+.
The viewing of the inaugural episode could be positive for Paramount+, but the statistics are still modest in comparison to shows that are available on Netflix or Disney+. However, when viewed through the lens of a relatively new streaming service such as Paramount+, the show appears to be a narrative of success due to the fact that it has been renewed for more seasons. But additionally, because the service does not provide information about how many people are watching the series, we do not precisely know if the number of viewers is decreasing with each new season.
The fact that there are fewer episodes in each season than there were in the previous season suggests that the show is not performing well in terms of the amount of viewers it is attracting. However, when we take into account the show’s high budget, the earnings from the viewership need to be sufficiently high in order to compensate for that. If a streaming service isn’t making money off of a show, we don’t see why they would continue to put out fresh seasons of that show.

Is it possible to watch Star Trek: Discovery using Amazon Prime?
Star Trek Discovery is not accessible to stream on Amazon Prime or Netflix since Paramount+ has its own streaming service. On the other hand, you can purchase individual episodes through Amazon Prime; but, the price for doing so is far higher than what you would pay for a streaming service.
You may watch the series on Paramount+ for only $4.99 per month if you don’t mind being interrupted by commercials. If you would rather have a plan that does not include advertisements, you may get one for the service for $9.99 per month. The streaming service was also made available in the United Kingdom from the beginning of 2022, which means that residents of that country can watch the series online for a fee of £6.99 per month.
Canada, Australia, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, South Korea, and Ireland are among the countries that have access to the platform.
The following countries are scheduled to receive the Paramount+ streaming service in September 2022: Italy, Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.
In December of 2022, the service will become available in France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In the following year, 2023, a select group of Asian nations, including India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, will be able to make use of the service.
