A new action-packed season of Vikings: Valhalla has just been released on Netflix, with many fans electing to binge-watch the new episodes as soon as they become available.
The streaming service has given the series a bulk initial order of 24 episodes, which are spread across three seasons and eight chapters per season.
The series is set more than a century after the original Vikings, which was a smash sensation for the History channel, and explores the final years of the Norse warlords up to the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.
During a recent Q&A (via Collider), Vikings: Valhalla showrunner Jeb Stuart stated that Netflix’s large episode order has been useful for scripting the epic story arcs spanning seasons.
“I understood from the beginning what the third season would entail,” he stated. “I understood where season three would go because of the cultural shift; I knew we would eventually reach the New World.
“The contents of the toolkit. How can we fill Leif’s toolbox, and what does Freydis bring to capture the remaining adherents of the Pagan religion? And we are aware of what is occurring in Europe at that time.
“It is thrilling for us. Therefore, I am not doing this according to the seasons.”
This prior plot for the program has also benefited the performers, with Vikings: Valhalla star Leo Suter stating he has long been aware of his character’s long-term prospects.
He said: “Having a birds-eye perspective of what this show will look like and where these characters are headed has been really helpful for us as performers. It signifies that sometimes you do not need to hustle to get somewhere since there is plenty of time.”
Vikings: Valhalla season 3 Release date
Vikings: Valhalla does not yet have an official release date, but given that development on season 3 is already underway, it may not be long until the next installment appears on Netflix.

Vikings: Valhalla season 3 Plot and Spoiler
Expect Vikings: Valhalla season 3 to advance unresolved narrative strands from the second chapter, with an eye toward leaving things semi-resolved in case the show is not renewed for a fourth season.
During a recent Q&A, showrunner Jeb Stuart stated that while he would love to create a second trilogy that would extend Vikings: Valhalla through season 6, he is prepared for alternative outcomes.
“I hope we get the chance to continue that trip, but I believe that parts one, two, and three are all stand-alone and satisfying on their own,” he remarked.
