What Happened in the Last of Us Season 1 Episode 4?

Ellie is messing about with the rifle she found and looks in the mirror. Outside, we find Joel syphoning gas from one car in order to refuel the truck and get back on the road. Ellie is still a thorn in Joel’s side, but this time she’s reciting jokes from a pun book.

Joel begins to become increasingly protective of Ellie. This time, at night, she seeks his assurance that everything will be fine. They came found tremendous wreckage that obstructed the interstate as they drove down the motorway. As a result, they will have to turn around and return to the highway via the city.

When she returns outside, she tells her crew that Henry is to blame and that they must find him as soon as possible. Joel delivers Ellie the rifle and shows her some tactics with it while Joel and Ellie talk about what transpired. The episode concludes with Joel and Ellie laughing, but Joel awakens to find Ellie screaming and a gun aimed at her by a child.

The Last of Us Season 1 Review

The Last Of Us is off to a good start, and as far as video game adaptations go this is a solid adaptation. So far. It’s too early to call this a masterpiece or give it a high 9 or 10. You cannot watch the first act of anything and say it’s immediately overall a masterpiece. Remember, this might all lead to the problems and character assassinations of The Last Of Us Part II. The Last Of Us will serve as a unique test.

Will HBO and the creators listen to their audience and stick very closely to adapting Part I of The Last Of Us, but win fans overwhelmingly by deviating away from the events of The Last Of Us Part II? Hopefully, but it’s far too early to tell.

The acting is solid, the production designs and sets are superb, and the slow-burn opening in the first episode left a good impact. There are changes made to the adaptation, but for many, these are subtle and go without damaging anyone or anything. There are fair criticisms to be made. Example in episode II, “Use a grenade!”. And why is Ellie making so much noise in a zombie apocalypse?

However, The Last Of Us, so far, proves a video game can be adapted well into film. Good so far, but it’s far far too early to give this high praise.

So far this is around a 7/10. Good with the potential to be even better, or at its worst end up being The Last Of Us Part II.
