Following a successful first season, the dystopian Netflix series was quickly renewed for a second season. The sci-fi series follows Gus, a ten-year-old human-animal hybrid who traverses a desolate environment in quest of the sanctuary.
Sweet Tooth was adapted for the film by Jim Mickle from Jeff Lemire’s DC comic of the same name. Originally meant for Hulu, it wound up on Netflix, where it became yet another runaway success for the site. Despite its heartbreaking concept and narrative, many people fell in love with charming little Gus and binge-watched all eight episodes of its first season.

Sweet Tooth Season 2 Release Date
The new year will undoubtedly be full of surprises, but viewers will have to wait a little longer because Sweet Tooth Season 2 was not featured on Netflix’s list of new releases in January 2023. On the bright side, the series got renewed for a second season in July 2021.
After months of anticipation, the filming for season 2 which took place in New Zealand between January 2022 and May 2022 has already been completed, making it more likely for the show to release on Netflix sooner than the audience had hoped!
However, as of December 28, 2022, no specific release date for the show has been announced. Given that the last season was released on June 4, 2021, we assume Netflix is planning a summer 2023 release for Sweet Tooth Season 2.

Sweet Tooth Season 2: What to Expect?
Sweet Tooth is a Netflix adaptation of a comic book that will have a second season based on Jeff Lemire’s DC series. The second season’s plot is intended to continue from the first season, which states:
“The Great Crumble” caused havoc on the earth ten years ago, resulting in the inexplicable emergence of hybrids – newborns born part human, part animal. Many humans fear and hunt hybrids because they are unsure whether they are the cause or outcome of the virus.
A sheltered hybrid deer child named Gus (Christian Convery) accidentally encounters a roaming loner named Jepperd after a decade of living safely in his remote forest habitat (Nonso Anozie). They go on an amazing journey through what remains of America in search of answers – about Gus’ origins, Jepperd’s past, and the true meaning of home.
However, their journey is full of unexpected allies and opponents, and Gus rapidly discovers that the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is far more complex than he could have anticipated.
“It’s been equally thrilling and gratifying to see how people all over the world have fallen in love with our deer-boy,” Mickle added. We couldn’t be more thrilled to continue working with Netflix and to continue following Gus and his buddies on their remarkable trip.”
In the meanwhile, we recommend that fans watch the official trailer below to refresh their memories of the events of the episodes.
