Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Plot: What Could It Be About?

Lower Decks follows Starfleet’s underdogs as they boldly go where no one has gone before, traversing the universe, assisting civilizations and new life, and maintaining appearances without making a total fool of themselves along the way.

In terms of boldly going where no one has gone before, the show also goes where no one has gone before. It’s Star Trek, but unlike any other version you’ve ever seen, this one is purposefully ironic.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Review

My primary viewing preference is not animated television. My window is only a few inches in height. Even though I believe The Simpsons has long since passed its prime, Archer and I will continue to watch it on occasion.

It’s mostly just Archer. The humor in Star Trek: Lower Decks is both self-deprecating and referential, which are two types of humor that I enjoy. The show is funnier than I expected.

It also contains a lot of scatological comedy, which some may find offensive but which I find hilarious.

The problem I have with The Simpsons is by far the most serious one I have. I’m not sure how much longer it can go before you start wondering why the four main characters aren’t getting promoted.

I’m not sure how much longer it can go on before you wonder why. Because it is an animated show, it is theoretically possible for it to continue airing for decades while keeping the four main characters as lower deck Ensigns indefinitely.

After a while, one would grow tired of it. But, until that point, this show is extremely entertaining because it doesn’t take itself seriously. At the same time, it retains the heart and spirit of what has always made Star Trek such a fantastic franchise.
