The movie Scream 6 is now out, and it has so many twists and turns that you probably won’t guess what the big reveal is.

Grab some popcorn and your preferred kitchen knife, and let’s get started. Warning! Major Scream 6 spoilers ahead.
Scream 6 Ending: Who is Ghostface?
The ending of Scream 6 is actually quite complex, so let’s go all the way back to Scream 5.
In the 2022 “sequel,” Ghostface returned and terrified a new generation of youngsters, including Randy Meeks’ (Jamie Kennedy) niece and nephew and Billy Loomis’ illegitimate daughter (Skeet Ulrich).
Amber (a member of the core friend circle) and Richie Kirsch (who was pretending to romance Billy’s daughter Sam Carpenter) were ultimately identified as the murderers.
Amber and Richie (Jack Quaid) met on the Internet and bonded over their love of the Stab films (the in-universe film franchise inspired by the Ghostface killings).
Richie and Amber perished at the conclusion of Scream 5, as is customary in such situations. But, Scream was not yet finished with Richie.
In Scream 6, the film follows the survivors as they move to New York City to attend college.
Everyone is doing well except for Sam, who is devastated and horrified by the idea that she liked killing her phony boyfriend Richie in self-defense. Worse, the Internet has come to believe that Sam framed Richie and was the true murderer all along.
Then Ghostface appears, and all hell blows up.
After approximately an hour of stabbing, running, and listening to scary phone calls, Scream 6 ends in a spooky abandoned theatre that Richie has transformed into a shrine to Ghostface.
The murderers are subsequently revealed to be Richie’s father, brother, and sister, all of whom have been driven insane by grief.
They spread rumors that Sam was the true murderer and assumed secret identities to become our heroes’ housemates. The fact that Richie’s father (Dermot Mulroney) is a cop made it easier for him to approach his victims.
The final act occurs suddenly and makes little sense. It appears that the villains intended to frame Sam for the murder of her half-sister and then kill her as well.
Richie’s family seemed to be in utter denial about the fact that he was a psychopathic serial killer, despite his father’s admission that he helped construct Richie’s Ghostface shrine.
In the end, it makes no difference because all three villains perish while the heroes miraculously survive. We believe that the Kirsch family no longer exists, but will Richie’s influence continue in Scream 7?
Scream 6’s Ending Indicates Scream 7 Will Come Soon
In an interesting way, Scream 6 makes Richie’s character much more complicated after the fact. Before, he was a bad movie nerd who was a poor copy of the original Ghostface.
Now, he’s a Ghostface scholar who became a martyr, with a little bit of cult leader from beyond the grave thrown in for good measure.
Based on how Scream 6 puts Richie above most of the other Ghostfaces, we have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Jack Quaid’s killer dweeb.
Even though he’s dead, that’s never stopped a character from coming back in a horror sequel before. Richie’s story isn’t over yet, whether he shows up in a flashback or by some miracle makes it through the events of Scream 5.
