Yuu Tanaka’s novel Reincarnated as a Sword, also known as the even more ridiculous-sounding I Became the Sword by Transmigrating, began as a novel.

The story depicts its protagonist doing what isekai heroes do best: dying, specifically by being hit by an oncoming car. He is then reborn in the form of a sword, as the name suggests. Fran, a catgirl slave with an unenviable lot in life, discovers said weapon.

When the sword joins forces with Fran, it takes on the name “Master,” defending/fighting alongside the girl during their subsequent quest.

Despite his new name, Master develops a relationship with his new ally that is similar to that of a father and daughter. This completely changes the usual trappings of isekai, while the main character’s armament nature promises a lot of action.

C2C is the studio behind the anime adaptation of Reincarnated as a Sword, and its previous biggest production was Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy, another isekai series. Shinji Ishihara, who also directed the well-received anime Edens Zero, is the director of Reincarnated as a Sword.

The series’ scripts, character designs, and animation direction are handled by Takahiro Nagano and Atsuki Saito, while the music is composed by Yatsuhara Takahashi, the composer behind Fairy Tail and Naruto Shippuden.
