Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is said to be in the works. It was thrilling to see Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprise their roles as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader for the first time since the prequel trilogy, especially because Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy promised the “rematch of the century.”
Although the Disney Plus exclusive was labeled as a limited series and has not been renewed at the time of writing, there is still a lot of speculation about the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Plot
Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story takes place after the events of the third episode of Star Wars, which is based on the Sith’s vengeance. During this time, the Jedi Order was entirely wiped out, and Anakin Skywalker was transformed into the Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Following the events of the fight, Obi-Wan Kenobi flew away to the island of Tatooine. He lives alone and looks after Luke Skywalker there. Darth Vader later directed his soldiers to hunt down any remaining Jedi following Order 66. Obi-Wan learned of this and departed Tatooine, where his life became one of adventure.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Review
A second season would be a huge triumph for Disney since Obi-Wan Kenobi became the most-watched premiere on Disney Plus globally in terms of hours streamed in an opening weekend. With such excellent numbers, a second series appears to be at least on the table.
Along with those amazing numbers, both Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor have expressed a desire to spend more time with Darth Vader and Obi-Wan.
“Well, it was planned as a solo story,” Hayden Christensen told Radio Times. But I’d like to keep working with this character. You know, I believe there’s more there to explore, and I’d be delighted to get to do so,” he said, adding that if Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 was greenlit, he “would certainly be open to” appearing in it.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is just as excited about Ewan McGregor‘s return. He also told Radio Times, “I hope this isn’t the last time I play him. I had so much fun doing this, and I’m sure we can come up with a few more stories before I start to sound like Alec Guinness, don’t you think?
On the Deadline podcast, writer Joby Harold talked about the possibility of a second season.
(opens a new window) He made it sound like there were no plans for more Obi-Wan right now, but he also didn’t seem against going back to the character in the future.
Joby Harold said: “People ask me about it all the time. I’ve just been thinking about this as a closed story for so long that my mind is so focused on it as a kind of limited series that I haven’t thought about anything else. But he is a very interesting person. All of them are great people.”

When Will Obi-wan Kenobi Season 2 Be Released?
We got a bevy of announcements at the Star Wars Celebration, including a slew of shows to look forward to between now and 2023. Andor, Ahsoka, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Star Wars: Visions season 2, and the upcoming animated anthology series Tales of the Jedi are all part of the program (which is due to feature Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn).
Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi was not included in the roadmap. So, even if a second series is in the works, we may not see it for another couple of years until a gap comes up in the release schedule.
