Fans of magic, illusion, and suspense have been eagerly awaiting the release of “Now You See Me 3,” the next installment in the popular heist thriller franchise. Since the release of “Now You See Me” in 2013 and its sequel, “Now You See Me 2,” in 2016, audiences have been left wondering when they would get to witness the Four Horsemen’s mesmerizing acts once again. In this article, we will explore the latest updates and information about the release date of “Now You See Me 3.”
When Will Now You See Me 3 Be Released?
According to Screen Daily, Lionsgate International is moving forward with Now You See Me 3 by launching sales at the American Film Market (AFM), which will take place from October 31 to November 5, 2023.
Based on a big upgrade published in October 2023, Now You See Me 3 is expected to appear in late 2025 at the earliest.
The third installment has been in the works for quite some time. Literally. A third film featuring the trio of mischievous magicians was greenlit shortly after the second film, which was released in 2016, but there were no updates for quite some time.
Now, seven years later, Lionsgate has confirmed that Now You See Me 3 will go ahead. When the announcement was made, it was also stated that Ruben Fleischer (director of the hilarious undead comedy Zombieland) would direct and Michael Lesslie (writer of the Assassin’s Creed film) would write the script.
Who Will Be in the Cast of Now You See Me 3?
Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Morgan Freeman are already set to return from Now You See Me. Here’s the expected Now You See Me 3 cast list:
- Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas
- Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney
- Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley
- Dave Franco as Jack Wilder
- Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes
- Lizzy Caplan as Lula
- Michael Caine as Arthur Tressler
What Will Happen in Now You See Me 3?
While no official plot for Now You See Me 3 has been established, the third film is most likely to follow the Four Horsemen as they undertake assignments for The Eye.
The first two movies followed them as they sought acceptance into The Eye, an exclusive group of magicians who believe they have access to real magic and who use their skills to steal from the wealthy. Everything is extremely Robin Hood. Thaddeus (Morgan Freeman) was also revealed to be The Eye’s covert leader.
We’d bet money that the next film will follow the group as The Eye sends them on a task to steal from a wealthy target, which will almost certainly feature some logic-defying magic tricks and plans to get the job done. The FBI will, no doubt, remain on track.
To begin with, the Now You See Me franchise is a collection of outstanding heist films. They keep the audience guessing, create real tension, and do all of this with some pretty amazing card tricks. All of this has resulted in them being the best movies for enthusiasts of magic (apart from Harry Potter), and Fleischer appears to be aware of this.
“I am a lifelong fan of heist movies; I love getting drawn in by the twists and the mystery where nothing is what it seems,” he stated in an interview with Deadline. “This is especially true when the thieves are magicians – the possibilities are limitless.” Eric was able to introduce me to a new movie and interesting new people in a unique and engaging way, so I’m eager to learn more.”
