Netflix Crashes Soon After the Release of ‘Stranger Things 4 Volume 2’

When Netflix released the eagerly awaited final two episodes of Season 4 of Stranger Things early Friday morning, the popular streaming service was temporarily unavailable to its members. According to the global uptime-monitoring website Downdetector.com, the number of difficulties reported with Netflix jumped to roughly 13,000 at 3 a.m. ET, when Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 became available.

Subscribers have displayed the ‘Network Error’ notice, informing them that there was a problem connecting to Netflix servers and requesting that they try again later. Variety stated that before Netflix rectified the technical issues within half an hour, viewers flocked to social media to express their irritation and share memes tying the outage to the popular Duffer Brothers’ comedy.

After topping Shonda Rimes’ Bridgerton for most hours watched in a weekend debut with a ridiculous figure of 286.79 million, Stranger Things 4 has already made history. Volume 1 of Stranger Things 4 has surpassed the first two seasons of Bridgerton as the most-watched English-language series on Netflix in its first four weeks of availability, as stated by Netflix based on total hours seen.

The song “Running Up That Hill (Deal With God)” by Kate Bush, which is heavily featured in the most recent season of Stranger Things, has also ascended to the top spot on iTunes just 35 years after its first release. Compared to Squid Game, Stranger Things Season 4 ranks second on the charts with 1.65 billion hours viewed. Season 4 Volume 2 is nearly four hours long and contains only two episodes. Episode 8 is 85 minutes in length, whereas Episode 9 is 150 minutes.

Stranger Things is developed, written, and executive produced by the irrepressible team made up of Matt and Ross Duffer, the Duffer Brothers. Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, and Matthew Modine comprise the ensemble cast of the 2016 supernatural horror drama.

The excellent news for fans? Within half an hour, the issue was rectified, allowing fans to finally devour the movie-length episodes. According to Variety, Stranger Things 4 has already established itself as the most popular English-language series on Netflix.

Netflix is currently streaming all four seasons of Stranger Things, including Volume 2 of season four.
