Gotham Knights are The CW’s newest superhero show (and it may be the network’s last if Nexstar truly moves the web in a new direction), and it has nothing to do with the DC video game of the same name.
There is one parallel: Batman is no longer alive, and it is up to a new generation of heroes to rise up and protect the city. Following the death of the Caped Crusader, Bruce Wayne’s adopted son Turner Hayes, along with some of the children of Batman’s greatest enemies, form an unlikely alliance to clear their names. Can they save the city at the same time?
There’s been a lot of speculation about whether or not Gotham Knights will be released, so what’s the story?
Gotham Knights Release Date
The arrival of Gotham Knights is imminent. The show will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. ET.
It will air after the season 3 premiere of Superman and Lois, which could work in its favor given that the other DC TV show is one of The CW’s two most popular shows. With that in mind, the pilot episode (and hopefully the rest of the season) has a good chance of succeeding.
What Is the Plotline of Gotham Knights?
Gotham Knights’ official plot synopsis is as follows:
Bruce Wayne is murdered and his adopted son forges an alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies. As the city becomes more dangerous, these mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors, known as the Gotham Knights.
Batman’s rogue’s gallery will undoubtedly play a significant role in the show. Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan) claims to be the daughter of The Joker, the Clown Prince of Crime himself. That being said, anyone familiar with Duela’s comics counterpart knows she has a history of embellishing her parentage.
Carrie Kelley is best known as the alternate Earth-31’s third Robin, who will help guide the new heroes on their vigilante journey. Harper Row (Fallon Smyth) and Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara) are twin delinquents, and it’s unclear whether they’ll be the children of low-level criminal Marcus Row, as in the comics, or the offspring of a more well-known villain.
