On December 5, 2021, it was announced that the anime adaptation of Golden Kamuy would receive Golden Kamuy season 4. The NBC Universal Anime/Music YouTube channel released the first teaser trailer alongside the announcement of the series production; see below.
However, the most intriguing aspect of the renewal was the revelation that a new production studio will be used for the fourth season. Brain’s Base will replace Geno Studio as producer, and Shizutaka Sugahara will replace Hitoshi Noboru as director.

The new anime studio has a proven track record, having adapted My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (2013), School Babysitters (2018), In/Spectre (2020), Duel Masters (2019), and To Your Eternity (2019). (2021).
Golden Kamuy Season 4 has been one of the most consistent, yet criminally underappreciated series in recent years. Currently, the series has a score of 8.0/10 on IMDB and 4.7/5 on Crunchyroll Reviews, as well as 7.86/10, 8.23/10, and 8.45/10 across its three seasons on MyAnimeList – making it popular enough to warrant a fourth season.
There is also the opinion that there is sufficient source material from the Golden Kamuy manga to adapt the anime for at least one more season.

At the time of writing, a total of 314 chapters have been released across 29 volumes of the manga. According to Monsters & Critics, however, the third season concluded around volume 20’s chapter 200.
This means that Brain’s Base has access to nine already-published complete volumes of Golden Kamuy for future content creation.
