Fear the Walking Dead’s Season 8 Will Be the Final Season on AMC

Season 8 of “Fear the Walking Dead” will be the final season.

The announcement was made during AMC’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. AMC also revealed that the final season of the “Walking Dead” companion series will consist of 12 episodes, which will be released in two six-episode blocks.

The first block will air on AMC and AMC+ on May 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The second installment will be released later this year.

The cancellation of “Fear the Walking Dead” was part of a larger announcement about the “Walking Dead” universe, with AMC also announcing the premiere dates for the spinoff show “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” starring Norman Reedus.

A production update on the Rick/Michonne limited series starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira was also provided.

The eighth season of “Fear the Walking Dead” begins after the events of Season 7, in which Morgan’s (Lennie James) and Madison’s (Kim Dickens) attempts to save Mo from PADRE did not go as planned.

The decision to cancel the show comes after the mothership show completed its eleventh and final season in 2022, with the series finale airing in November.
