What is the plot of the Netflix series about Jeffrey Dahmer?
Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was a notorious American serial killer and sex offender who murdered and dismembered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, many of whom were people of color and some of whom were minors.
The majority of the killings also included necrophilia, cannibalism, and the preservation of body parts. Dahmer was found legally sane at his trial despite being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and psychotic disorder. He was beaten to death by another inmate in 1994, two years into his sentence, after being convicted of 16 murders. He was 34.
According to Deadline, Monster will take place in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s and will conclude with Dahmer’s arrest in 1991. It is also expected to take a more psychological approach to Dahmer’s story than previous adaptations. Monster will concentrate on how these murders were allowed to continue for so long.
The following is the official synopsis for Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story:
(“Monster,” tells the story of one of America’s most notorious serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer, and delves deeply into the police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree. The series depicts at least ten instances in which Dahmer was almost apprehended but was ultimately released. The series is also expected to address white privilege, as Dahmer, a clean-cut, good-looking white man, was repeatedly given a free pass by cops and judges who were lenient when he was charged with petty crimes.”)
