We have excellent news for all of you fans of Alice in Borderland! It has been confirmed that season 2 of Alice in Borderland will premiere on Netflix in December 2022! This may seem like a lengthy period of time, but it will pass quickly.
We had high hopes that the second season would premiere in 2021. However, this was not the case. It has now been confirmed that the second season of Alice in Borderland will air this year.
Netflix announced the news at a virtual Japan Festival event in November 2021. We initially predicted that the new season would debut in the spring of 2022, but it appears that the new season will not debut until the winter of 2022. Since season 1 was released in December, I suppose Netflix wanted to maintain this release pattern.
Season 2 production officially concluded in March 2022, and new episodes entered post-production shortly thereafter. Post-production for a show like Alice in Borderland was anticipated to be a lengthy process. That is why we must wait so long for the second season.
Nonetheless, we are ecstatic to finally have an official release date!

During the live-stream event, Netflix only revealed that the new season would be available in December 2022. The announcement video is provided below. The timestamp for season two of Alice in Borderland is 8:24.
Release Date Announcement Video
During Netflix’s TUDUM virtual fan event on September 24, the streaming service announced that the second season of Alice in Borderland will premiere on December 22, 2022. Along with the announcement of the release date, Netflix also released a teaser trailer. Examine it below!
We had anticipated that the second season would be released on December 10, 2022, exactly two years after the premiere of the first season on the streaming service. However, it appears that the second season will premiere at the end of December rather than in the middle of the month. However, we are not complaining. We are simply thrilled that the second season will air this year.
Season 2 of Alice in Borderland will release date on Netflix is December 22 at 1:00 a.m. PT/6:00 a.m. ET.

As previously mentioned, Netflix published a video on Twitter featuring cast members who will return for the second season.
This includes Kento Yamazaki as Ryohei Arisu, Tao Tsuchiya as Yuzuha Usagi, Keita Machida as Daikichi Karube, Sho Aoyagi as Aguni Morizono, Yuki Morinaga as Chota Segawa, Nijiro Murakami as Shuntaro Chishiya, Ayaka Miyoshi as Ann Rizuna, Aya Asahina as Hikari Kuina, and Riisa Naka as Mira Kano.
Dori Sakurada, who portrays Suguru Niragi on the show, was a cast member whose return for the second season of Alice in Borderland shocked fans.
Niragi was a resident of ‘The Beach’ and one of Arisu and Usagi’s primary adversaries ever since their arrival at the resort. Fans initially believed Niragi had perished after being burned by Shuntaro Chisiya and defeated by Aguni; however, the video appears to confirm his return.
Sakurada himself shared the news on his personal Instagram account, alongside a photo of a severely burned Niragi and the caption, “Niragi will return.”
This suggests that it is possible for other characters to make a surprise return from the dead, either through flashbacks or unexpected plot twists.
In addition, six new cast members have been announced for the second season.
The new cast members include Yuri Tsunematsu as high school student Heiya, Tomohisa Yamashita as Kyūma (aka ‘King of Clubs’), Hayato Isomura as Banda, Kai Inowaki as Matsushita, Katsuya Maiguma as Yaba, and Honami Satō as Kotoko (via Anime News Network).
So what should we anticipate from the newcomers? Netflix teased, “An action veteran, a seasoned player, and a mysterious wild card.”
Since Arisu and Usagi are partially based on the manga’s author, Haro Aso, it’s possible that additional information about the characters has yet to be revealed, but it’s possible that they may share similarities with him.
Aso explained, “I based Arisu on my own indecisiveness when I was about 20 years old when I created the character.”
He added that Usagi is influenced by an aspect of his personality that is “independent and does not require the assistance of others.”
