Rajasthan Royals has successfully purchased Yuzvendra Chahal for the upcoming IPL season for Rs. 6.5 crore. There was a chance that Chahal would join Mumbai Indians, as the team appeared keen to acquire the spinner, but Rajasthan Royals seized the player’s bidding in their favour.
Yuzvendra Chahal is regarded as one of India’s best spinners. In 2013, he began his IPL debut with the five-time champion Mumbai Indians. Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him the following year. Since then, he has become an essential part of the squad, with 139 wicketsat an average of 22.28 and an economy of 7.59 in 113 games for the three-time finalists.
He was released by the team prior to the 2018 auction, only to be re-acquired by the team. The 31-year-old was a strong contender for the purple cap in 2020, but was edged out by Kagiso Rabada of the Delhi Capitals.
