Mitchell Starc, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore player, bagged 34 wickets in 27 matches during his two-year tour with the RCB.
Australian pace sensation Mitchell Starc in one of the big players who will not be seen playing in the 2022 session of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mitchell Starc has opted out himself of the IPL mega auction ahead of the 2022 season at the last minute as he did not want to spend another 22 weeks in bio-bubble.
Starc, who won the Australia’s men’s cricketer of the year award on Saturday, said, “I was a click of the button away from entering the auction but personally didn’t want to spend 22 more weeks in a bubble,”
Starc added that he would love returning to the IPL, but he needs to spend more time with his family. “They’ll be a time where I’d love to go back to the IPL but in terms of wanting to play as much as I can for Australia that’s a decision I’ve taken and that gives me an opportunity to spend time with Alyssa and family in those eight weeks outside of a cricket bubble,” Starc was quoted as saying by ‘EspnCricinfo’.
The former Royal Challengers Bangalore member, has spotlighted in only two IPL season, picking off 34 wickets in 27 matches at an economy rate of 7.16 and a strike rate of 17. Starc was ruled out of the IPL in 2018 due to an injury suffered on the South African Tour a few weeks before the start of the IPL season.
The 32-year-old was recently seen playing in the Ashes series and will shortly start preparing to be a part of the three match ODI series and one-off T20I against New Zealand, followed by a five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in mid-February before the tour of Pakistan in March.
The Australian pacer ended the Ashes as one of the team’s central performers in its 4-0 drubbing of England. He played in all the five Ashes Tests and concluded with 19 wickets at an average of 25.37.
