Southee’s Five-fer secures an early win for New Zealand over South Africa

New Zealand has dominated again on Day 3 and, as expected, has secured the game. Day 3 was potentially the deciding day, and it was, as the hosts prevailed by a large margin.

Matt Henry bowled a fantastic 7-wicket haul in the visitors’ first innings, and Southee stepped up to the plate this time, dismissing the visitors for only 111 runs.
Southee bagged in a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the visitors.

After being all-out for 95 in the first innings, South Africa’s terrible performance continues as their innings is wrapped up for 111 runs.

New Zealand won the match by an innings and 276 runs, giving them confidence for the remainder of the series and allowing them to secure 12 crucial points for the ICC Test World Championship.

Matt Henry was named the 1st Test’s ‘Player of the Match’ after taking 7 wickets in the first innings and 2 in the second.
