Consistent, rigid, and explosive: Shreyas Iyer has ticked all three qualities in every match against Sri Lanka. Iyer’s consistent efforts against Sri Lanka in all three T20I’s invite the batsman to boost the squad for the upcoming 2022 world cup campaign. Shreyas Iyer stood for the team with his top-notch performances consecutively in all three matches. In the final T20I, Shreyas Iyer top-scored 73 runs off just 45 balls, helping India to chase a seemingly easy target of 145 runs with 3.1 overs to spare. India, after losing two early wickets in the form of Rohit Sharm and Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer ably filled the shoes of Virat Kohli while batting one down the order. He quickly raised the momentum of the team by smashing three boundaries off Kumara’s over. His half-century came off just 29 balls. The credit also goes to Mohammad Siraj and Avesh Khan who rolled their sleeves in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. The duo bowled three overs each during the powerplay while letting the visitors score only 18 runs by losing three wickets in form of Dhanush Gunathilaka, Pathum Nissanka, and Charith Asalanka.
