Shreyas Iyer bags ‘man of the series’ title; competition tightens for middle order

Shreyas Iyer has been at the forefront while batting down the order in the entire series. His batting figures, while remaining unbeaten in the entire series, scored 57, 74 & 73 runs, which speaks the volume of talent in the player.

He has not just remained unbeaten but has also heaved a sigh of relief in the middle-order of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I world cup, 2022. His ability to fill the shoes of Virat Kohli in his absence completely mirrors his cricketing mindset and the ability to absorb responsibility in the crunch situations while considering the future perspective of the Indian cricket. Shreyas Iyer has earlier batted at 4 for India and even capitalized on the moments but failed guarantee his place in the side after coming across an injury that kept the batsman away for quite a long time. Since Iyer is back, it will be interesting to know at what position Shreya Iyer will be batted. But, with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishab Pant stepping up, the competition for number 4 slot remains full of a hard contest while the top three slots would be occupied by Rohit, Shikhar and Virat, in case an injury doesn’t affect the combination.
