Popularly referred to as ‘Disco King’, legendary singer-composer, Bappi Lehri, passed away on Wednesday, 16 February 2022 at CritiCare Hospital, Juhu due to multiple health issues but Obstructive Sleep Apnea is being said to be the cause of his death. Various figures from all walks of life poured their tributes into the sudden demise of Lahiri. On Thursday, his funeral will take place in Mumbai.
“It’s a deeply sad moment for us. The cremation will take on the arrival of Bappa (his son) from Los Angeles tomorrow mid-morning. We are seeking love and blessings for his soul. We will keep you updated,” came the official statement from his family. The cricket fraternity too poured their tributes to Lahiri. Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, led the fraternity to pay homage through Twitter.
I really enjoyed Bappi Da's music, especially “yaad aa raha hai” – heard it several times in the dressing room. The range of his talent was truly amazing.
