The 2010 gown she wore for her 50th-anniversary performance at the Grand Ole Opry was one of Tim’s most renowned creations for her. The second outfit is a pale blue dress that she wore for the album cover of her Van Lear Rose collection (2004).

Previously, Cobb revealed in an interview that Lynn’s role model Patsy Cline inspired her to start wearing long dresses.

Tim was Lynn’s best friend. In addition to being her costume designer, he was also her makeup/hair artist and museum curator.

Lynn characterized Tim as “my dearest buddy after all these years of knowing each other. It is true that he is my personal assistant, yet he does everything.

Cobb was born in Lake City, Arkansas, and reared there. He noticed an opportunity when his sister began competing in beauty pageants and he saw how much the competition costumes cost.

He designed, manufactured, and sold his first outfit at age 17. He enrolled in the Fashion College of Design and Merchandising in California shortly thereafter.

After graduating from college in Arkansas, he began his own business before joining the Les Wilk Company as a pageant line designer.

In 2018, the Lake City native gave some of the gifts he made for Lynn, along with hand-signed photographs and a pair of her stage shoes, to the city’s museum.

Remembering Tammy: The Fan Site posted,

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Loretta Lynn’s assistant, dress maker, best friend, museum curator and more since 1982…Mr. Tim.

Tim was a huge supporter of Country Music and especially of the legendary women of Country Music. He had a huge respect and love for Tammy Wynette, who was one of Loretta’s best friends. He dressed Loretta, Reba in the 1980’s and others.

Our prayers to the Lynn family and fans…and our appreciation to Tim who was the definition of a “great man” in that he made others “greater”, especially our legendary Women of Country.

I just learned from Loretta’s sister Peggy Sue that Tim Loretta’s longtime personal assistant, curator of Loretta’s museum, and dressmaker has passed away today. Tim took pride in his craft and every facet of sharing Loretta’s illustrious career!
I’m sad to hear this. I have many wonderful memories over the years with Tim. He opened his world to me and that of Loretta’s. I miss Loretta and will miss Tim. I pray for his soul and pray that he and Loretta will be together again for all of eternity in Heaven and with his loved ones that went before him.
