Terry Hall, the frontman for The Specials, a British ska revival band, died at the age of 63. Hall died on Monday after a “brief illness,” according to a statement posted on The Special’s Instagram account.
“It is with tremendous regret that we announce the passing of Terry, our lovely friend, brother, and one of the most gifted singers, songwriters, and lyricists this country has ever produced, after a brief illness.
Terry was a fantastic husband and father, as well as one of the nicest, funniest, and most honest beings I’ve ever met “the statement started. “His music and performances captured the essence of life… the joy, the anguish, the humor, the battle for justice, but most importantly, the love.
All who knew and loved him will miss him greatly, and he leaves us with the gift of his extraordinary music and genuine humanity.
Terry would frequently leave the stage at the end of The Specials’ upbeat gigs with three words… “Love, Love, Love” We would ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy at this very difficult time,” the statement added.
