Margot Robbie, who is 32 years old, said that she has been pushing hard for years for her DC supervillain Harley Quinn to date fellow bad guy Poison Ivy in a live-action movie.

Margot Robbie has said that she would like to see one of the characters she plays on-screen date a lesbian. The Australian actress said that she has been pushing hard for years for Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy to get together because the movies haven’t shown that side of the characters.

Robbie, who is 32 years old, said she wants Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn to be friends in a live-action movie, just like they are in a cartoon. After playing the famous Harley Quinn in DC’s Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad, it’s not clear if she would come back to the role to meet up with Poison Ivy.

The star has said, though, that she likes the idea.

“I have been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I want it. I want it too,” she told ComicBook.com.

When asked if she had any actors in mind to play her romantic opposite, she said: “Honestly, when I pictured it, I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics. I don’t really actually picture an actress doing it, but I agree, that would be so good.”

Early this year, it was announced that Lady Gaga will play the character in Joker: Folie A Deux, which also stars Joaquin Phoenix. Joker doesn’t take place in the same world as the DCEU, so Lady Gaga won’t be replacing Robbie.

Margot Robbie talked to MTV News about the version of Harley that lives in a different universe.

“It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman, always gets passed from great actor to great actor,” she said.

“It’s kind of like someone gets to do their Batman, or someone gets to do their Macbeth. I feel like, in not so many cases, are they female characters. It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing.

“And I think she’ll do something incredible with it.”
