Teresa Giudice’s Divorce Statement
Teresa Giudice stated in a “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” episode that her now ex-husband Joe Giudice received nothing in the divorce settlement.
Teresa stated, “When we divorced, I received the house while Joe received nothing because I paid off all of his debt.”
She also stated, “I’ve been solely responsible for our daughters for the past five years.”
Joe stated his opinion: Since Teresa’s birth, I’ve known her… He stated to E! News, “I cannot be angry with her.” “She is the mother of my four daughters, and she is currently caring for them because I am unable to. What am I going to do, relocate my children to a foreign country where they do not speak the language? That is a terrible suggestion.”
He added, “It’s a shame what those children had to endure… We are putting forth our best effort at the end of the day.”
Why Did Joe and Teresa Split?
Teresa revealed during the season 10 finale of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” that she and Joe are going to divorce while on vacation in Italy. The couple decided to divorce after years of legal wrangling.
On July 29, 2013, after years of minor legal and financial issues, both were charged with fraud by the federal government. They were imprisoned in October 2014. Teresa served 11 months of a 15-month sentence, but Joe served the entire 41 months.

They were released so that their four children would never be without a parent, but this severely harmed their relationship. Joe and Teresa haven’t lived together since early 2016, and their long-distance relationship resulted in a divorce.
The decision to split up took some time. Teresa stated in an interview, “I’m looking forward to him coming home and us being together.”
When they learned that Joe would be sent back to Italy after serving his prison sentence in 2018, things did not go as planned. Joe attempted to avoid deportation three times, but each time he was denied.
There was talk that they were cheating. Teresa and her daughters traveled to Italy to see Joe Giudice. They made the decision to part ways at that point.
