The first lady of the Trump empire, entrepreneur, and designer Ivana Trump passed away on Thursday at the age of 73.

The NYPD has confirmed to PEOPLE that around 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, they went to a 911 call to Trump’s Upper East Side residence and discovered her alone and lifeless on the stairs. On the spot, doctors pronounced her dead.

In a statement on his social media site Truth Social, the former president broke the news of her death, calling her a “lovely, beautiful, and remarkable woman, who had a tremendous inspirational life.”

Together, Trump and the former president have three children: Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. After her divorce from him became public knowledge, she remarried again but did not produce any more offspring either time.

The three children she raised were “her pride and pleasure,” as President Trump said in a statement mourning her death. “She held them in the same high regard that we held her. Put your worries and sorrows behind you, Ivana.”

After hearing the news from his father, Eric took to Instagram to pay homage, writing that she had been “a force in business, a world-class athlete, a bright beauty, and a kind mother and friend.”

Her youngest child, now 38 years old, wrote, “She fled from communism and accepted this nation.” “She instilled in them the values of kindness and perseverance and toughness. Her mother, three kids, and ten grandkids will miss her much.”
