Deckhand Ciara Duggan and first mate Paget Berry featured as a pair on Season 1 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, although it’s unclear whether they’re still together. In the off-season, they worked on the yacht Parsifal III with Captain Glenn Shephard, but everything changed when the rest of the crew arrived. The cabins were suddenly full, Ciara and Paget had to learn to work along on the exterior crew, and third stew Georgia Grobler began flirting with Paget.

Despite the many ups and downs of the charter season, Ciara and Paget remained together after the first season of BDSY finished. After more than four years of dating, the couple confirmed their engagement. As a result, the news that Ciara and Paget had called off their engagement and officially dissolved their romance was shocking. When and where did their relationship go wrong?

Are Paget and Ciara Still Together?

Ciara and Paget are no longer together. Ciara shared the news on her Instagram story in March 2021, after responding to an inquisitive follower who questioned if she was still with Paget. “No,” she replied. Things occur. We’re still friendly and wish each other all the best.”

Ciara and Paget remained together after the first season of BDSY finished, despite their many ups and downs over the charter season. After more than four years of dating, the couple even declared that they were engaged, so it may come as a surprise to some that they have split up.

Ciara Duggan and Paget Berry’s Love Story

While working on her family’s boat, Paget met Ciara and introduced her to the yachting profession. The couple started dating in 2016 and worked on Parsifal all year. On Bravo’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 1, viewers saw their romance bloom as first mate and deckhand.

Paget then proposed to Ciara in July 2020 in Italy. The couple continued to work and travel, as seen on their various social media profiles.

When Ciara secured a Chief Stew position on another yacht bound for Scotland, the two were also in a long-distance romance. Paget revealed the same in her Instagram post in September 2020:

“Ciara and I had previously worked apart for nearly a year, and having worked in the same industry, we were aware of the restrictions of communication… Fortunately, space makes the heart grow fonder! For those of you who are experiencing long-distance relationships, realize that it is all worth it in the end; being away teaches us how to be [together].”

Why Did Ciara Duggan and Paget Berry Split?

They moved into a new property in France together. However, it was at this point that the Below Deck cast noticed something was wrong. In March 2021, nine months after their engagement, the couple called it quits.

Ciara addressed their breakup in an interview with US Weekly, confessing:

“It kind of broke down for a variety of reasons.” We weren’t quarantined, stuck together, or anything like that since we were in France. “We were just kind of living life, but I was taking temporary jobs, and I just kind of recognized throughout those jobs that I was happier on my own for a variety of reasons.”

The Below Deck alum announced that she split up with Paget in December 2020, citing a lack of commitment in the relationship. Ciara stated:

“I loved him, but I don’t think I was in love with him.” If I’m being honest, I never really wanted to get married.”

Ciara revealed the news on Instagram when a fan asked if she and Paget were still dating. She stated that “things happen” and that the couple wished each other “nothing but the best.” The actor went on to tell the publication:

“There is no ill will between us. I need to get on with my life and do what I need to do for me, and he needs to do the same…I hope he finds someone more suitable… What matters is that none of us is malicious. We have too much history to simply disregard each other.”
