Ryuuken Ishida, the father of Uryu, is engaged to be married to Masaki Kurosaki, a pure-blood Quincy, and so the Kurosakis are staying at the Ishida home in anticipation of their wedding.
They still don’t like the Shinigamis a thousand years after they wiped off the Quincies, so they wait for the Seireitei residents to perish before moving in. Masaki, however, was not like the others; she rushed in to help Isshin and ended up killing the horrific Hollow, despite being bitten in the process. As soon as the hollowing began, Masaki blacked out.
